Deoxyribonucleic Acid Profiling
نویسنده
چکیده
The forensic biologist has traditionally used a large set of markers including blood group antigens and serum proteins to establish links between evidence and comparison samples. These markers are polymorphic and genetically determined. In 1985, a new technique was introduced which opened the door to the forensic use of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) technology: its inventor coined the term ‘DNA Rngerprinting’. Since then, DNA typing in this and many other forms has Sourished and the forensic biologist now has access to a large variety of powerful techniques.

Effect of Helium-Neon Laser and Sodium Hypochlorite on Calf Thymus Double-Stranded Deoxyribonucleic Acid Molecule: An in Vitro Experimental Study
Introduction: Low-energy helium-neon (He-Ne) laser beam lightis used in combination with sodium hypochlorite (Na2HOCl3) for clinical purposes. Regarding this, the present study aimed to investigate the effect of He-Ne laser (632.8 nm) and sodium hypochlorite on the calf thymus double-stranded deoxyribonucleic acid (ctdsDNA) molecule. Materials and Methods: For the purpose of the study, ctdsDNA...
متن کاملEngineering Hcp1 to Bind DNA
Current deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) processing methods used for DNA sequencing and microarray analysis rely on restriction enzymes that produce oligonucleotides of heterogeneous lengths. Homogenous length DNA would be an advantage to chip based DNA analysis technologies as a way to reduce false positives (incorrect matches of complementary DNA). Nanotubes of discrete lengths could serve as a te...
متن کاملThe Scientific Basis of DNA Technology
former NSW policeman, Harry Blackburn, was cleared of multiple sex charges on the 11 October 1989, and a Victorian was convicted of rape a week earlier. In both cases DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) profiling was used. DNA profiling illustrates the most powerful concept in forensic science, the power to eliminate a suspect. DNA profiling has a very high discrimination power and is therefore very po...
متن کاملRecA Protein
The RecA protein of Escherichia coli is the prototypic deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) strand exchange protein. It assembles on single-stranded DNA to form a helical nucleoprotein filament that is the active species for all RecA protein-dependent functions. This protein– DNA complex is responsible for three mutually exclusive functions: DNA recombination, induction of the DNA-damage SOS response an...
متن کاملFast Parallel Molecular Solution for Longest and Shortest Paths with Forbidden Pairs
Adleman demonstrate that we can deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) strands to solve an instance of the Hamiltonian path problem (HPP). One year later, Lipton solved another NP hard problem. In this paper, we use this model for developing a new DNA algorithm to solve longest and shortest path with forbidden pairs. Our algorithm works in polynomial time.
